Fridge for a Kegorater

Post by Windsorbrew »

I'm currently trying to find a small 5.2 - 5.4 cubic foot fridge to build a kegorator that fits 2 corny kegs. As dumb as it sounds, I can't find one anywhere, they are either too small or I get directed to american web sites/stores which normally wouldn't be an issue but the 33 cents on the dollar kind of kills that route. A Freezer project is not an option due to the limited space I have in my Kitchen. I looked online to price out ready built kegorators (Costco/Walmart/Bestbuy) and they have terrible reviews due to crappy components, cooling temps and the lack of room for corny kegs. Any suggestions?

Cheers

The Danby DAR044A ( 4.4 cu ft ) fits two corny s ( ball lock only ) or one fermenting bucket
It's a real tight squeeze, the shelving on the door must be removed.
Try the local liquidators, I got 2 for $100 a piece, came with warranty.
I use STC1000 for control

I got my whirlpool fridge (4.5ish cubic foot) at future shop years ago. best buy is the same idea. As kayakman said, the shelves must be removed from these.

Fits two corny kegs, and co2+regulator.
Mmmm... Beer... *drool*

Not that I'm a lazy man, but I found this online. Out the door @ $1350.00 CAD, shipping, duty and exchange included. We have an office in Michigan I can ship it to (35 minutes from Windsor).

Includes Manifold/Regulator
Upgraded Perlick 630 Taps (upgrade option)
Keg Cleaning pump (upgraded Option)
C02 Tank (already have 2)

Could I build it any cheaper to the same quality???

Kind of a loaded question. There is no comparing DIY to a $1500 kegerator.

They both keep your beer cold

If I were buying, I'd save $1000 and buy this

The reviews on the Costco kegorator were very mixed, one not being cold enough and the other only fitting two kegs+having to buy a dual faucet. Cost, quality and space is defiantly factor. I couldn't tell if the Walmart kegorator could fit ball lock or pin lock kegs.

Ended up going through with the order from the states. Duty, exchange and shipping came to $1200 CAD($815.00 US ). Just need to take an hour out of my day to run across the border and pay a visit to our Michigan office. So my DIY turned into a DI buy, couldn't find anything close to this in Canada that i could convert or buy (capacity/quality/price). Two years ago it would have been a steal with the exchange rate being so close to par.

Thanks anyways guys!

What liquidator did you get those from?
