Vanilla Beans

Anyone use vanilla beans in their mead? They got some at the local Costco but they're not cheap. Just wondering if the flavor extraction is conducive in honey must.

I've done it with a bochet - it was wonderful, but given the current cost of beans I'm not sure I'd do it at this time. I used ~1/2 bean per gallon (4L).

Near the end of secondary, just before bottling. I left it for 2 weeks(ish)
