Title says it all. Any other propane brewers deal with this? What do you do to prevent it? Would a heat shield work?

Do you have a false bottom or torpedo?

No false bottom. Nipple between kettle and drain valve is packed full of black burnt wort and i cant drain the kette.

Short of turning the flame down (which is probably not practical), you could try a torpedo valve, or install a recirculation pump.
