Another "No Fermentation?" thread

I know you gurus are getting sick of this! Sorry :)

I used the Festabrew Cream ale kit for my first brew! It's in a mini fridge, with the temp between 18.5C - 20.5C. It's been 8 days, I've watched it every day - I never got any real krausen. A little bit of foam on top, some floaties, and a few bubbles in the air lock. No "violent" activity at all - the fridge smells now, so I'm sure something happened.. but is something wrong? It's been 8 days!

only a hydrometer has the powers capable of telling you its ready or not. Time doesn't possess that kind of power. You need to take a hydrometer reading before and after/during fermentation to even have a clue what's going on

just to add, I've had ferments smell like actual ass, beer was great.
