Mill Gaps

I am fairly new to using grains in my brewing but have a question. Can or should I mill grains differently when steeping as compared to mashing? Will this affect efficiency? Milling my base grains for mashing and specialty grains for steeping is what I'm thinking. :stirpot:

I don't bother as the specialty grains are just a small part of the total grains in the recipe. If you are brewing a stout, some brews adjust the mill up a bit to get a more fine of a mill for the darker grains.
