When do you usually harvest your hops?

Post by twistandstout »

I am about to harvest a really large amount of hops. This summer has definitely been a good one. I noticed some of my Hallertau are turning brown at the end of the vine, but the bulk of them still have that 'moist' feel to them and are not 'papery' yet. I can't remember when I harvested them last year, but I might consider doing so in 2 weeks. After that, I'm looking at wet hopping a bunch of ales

You're always going to jave a few dried tips...best time to harvest is just after most of the cones have gone papery in texture.
